Oh Holy One, Oh Mighty Ruler, Oh Lord, God of Israel, You are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth…You are Majesty. We worship You…
Who can fathom or comprehend the Power of who You are and the beauty of Your Majesty. We bow down in heart and mind and soul humbled by the extent of the intricate design of Your Creation and the magnitude of Your power. You are the One who speaks and it is so. In awed silence we reflect and we rest.
We lay aside our thoughts and our lists for this savored sweet time with You. We resist the temptation to quickly pray to You and move on with our agendas, for You long for us to spend time with You. We breathe in the gift of life that is the present and the future and we exhale the breath that becomes the past as we let go of it. Breathe on us Oh Lord, may we feel Your very breath hovering over us as we still our hearts and minds and souls and bow down to You…..
Cleanse and purify our hearts, cleanse and purify our thoughts, cleanse and purify our souls that we might be Holy and Pure and Righteous in Your sight. Forgive us our sins, we name them as we rest for a moment and reflect on them……we give them to You and we thank You for the gift of washing us clean with the blood of Your Son…As we visualize Him hanging on the cross with the nails piercing His hands and the blood running down His body we are humbled at this gift of forgiveness of sin that is offered us through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Oh what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, I will confess my rebellion to the Lord and you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Therefore let all the Godly confess their rebellion to you while thre is time that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement. For you are my hiding place, you protect me from trouble, You surround me with songs of victory.
The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathway for Your Life….I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control…Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who TRUST THE LORD. So, rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey Him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure! Psalm 32…a Psalm of prayer written by King David… Lord God as we pray his prayer may You forgive us our sins and bring joy to our hearts and restore us and renew us through Your Holy Spirit that Your Son died to give us as counselor and comforter.
We rejoice that Your Word speaks……we thank You for it.. We pray that You would help us take the time to make the time to read from it and study from it that we might be strengthened and encouraged and convicted and transformed by You through this gift You have given us. We commit together as one voice in one accord to make a habit of feeding ourselves of the Bread of Life, Your Holy Word and not just grabbing it like fast food that we pick up in a drive through.
Together as one body we put on our Armor today. We put on our helmet of Salvation, our breastplate of Righteousness, our belt of truth, our shoes of Peace, our shield of Faith and we take up our sword, which has the Power of the Holy Spirit empowered by Your Word. Your word says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper so we stand together in prayer as sons and daughters united by the blood of sacrifice and death and the power of resurrection and we proclaim that nothing can separate us from You and that You have plans and purposes for us that are good.
We raise our swords in Victory. We are mighty and strong and bold and courageous. We are an army that has been trained and prepared and we will remember this day who we are and who we are fighting against ….we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Thank You Lord for Your clarity in Ephesians 6, make it real to us today and let us not get caught up in battles with people, let us remember who we are, where our power comes from and what we are fighting against and what we are fighting for. Let us not fall prey to the enemy and get caught up in his snares and traps.
Lord God let us be diligent in destroying all the idols that we worship that do not Honor and Glorify nor please You. Let us be like King Josiah and destroy all the things that detract us from living our lives to Honor and Glorify and Worship You. Let us remember that You are our Lord and that to call You Lord means we do not live for ourselves but for You.
Let us model a life that does not allow idols to consume us or become the focus of our lives. We come together in one voice and in one accord and we ask that You would whisper to our hearts of anything that may be a part of our lives that has become too important to us or that we put before our time and commitment and relationship with You. Give us courage like Josiah in 2 Kings 22 to take a stand and to do whatever it takes to remove the idols from our lives, from our homes, from our churches, from our schools, from our government, from our places where we entertain ourselves and from our relationships.
May You say about us that never before had there been such body of believers gathered together in my name, who turned to the Lord with all their hearts and souls and strength obeying all the laws of Moses. (paraphrase of 2 Kings 23:25)
Thank You for the gift of Grace that You have given us that Your people in 2 Kings lived without, let us not take it for granted or expect it to take the place of our responsibility to live out the commandments given to us through Moses. Have Grace upon Your people Lord and save our Nation. Help us do our part by removing the idols from our own lives for we know that You are not pleased with them. Have mercy on us Lord God and protect us from destruction and ruin….
We desire answers to our prayers and we acknowledge that You are longing for us to spend time with You and not just call you Lord, Father, God, and Friend but to Honor and Glorify You with all our hearts, all our minds and all our souls obeying your commandments, confessing our sins when we fall short and extending Your message of Salvation to the World.
As we go forward with this day You have given us and reflect on all that You have whispered to or hearts may Your Love fall like rain from Heaven upon us through Your Holy Spirit. May we feel Your power and Your presence and Your omnipotence all around us and may we be encouraged and inspired to live our lives as a reflection of You. We need You Lord God, we need Your hand upon us, we need Your power within us, we need Your heart to be our hearts. We are Your Precious Children. We ask that You would gide our paths today and direct our steps. Let us be the answers to prayers and see You working in our lives. Let us see the joy of giving and the joy of being at peace with You and the joy of becoming Your hands and hearts extended to the world.
Oh Lord Jesus, we ask that You would support those who need support today, grant wisdom to those that need direction and purpose and answers, give understanding to those that are confused and unsure and wandering, arrange miracles for healing and hope, move mountains of financial burdens and shower your people with prosperity as an out pouring to increase their Faith and create testimony, part the pathways of your people that need to go their separate ways whether that be for a short time for reflection and healing or a season to prepare for what You have in store for them , bring healing and restoration to relationships, bring comfort and peace to the hearts of Your people, bring hope to the broken and weary, bring help to those that are stuck in a rut and trapped in the pit of depression and oppression, and weave together Your plans and Your purposes for each of us that we might see Your hand at work in our lives and be filled with Passion and Purpose and thanksgiving and Praise for all the days of or lives we have left here on earth. In Jesus name we ask these things and pray….amen
